This too is an older song. I distinctly remember writing the chord progression around 6pm on the street curb somewhere while on tour in an upper east state. Always a cool feeling when you come up with a series of chords that almost ask to be repeated over and over and over. Fast forward a few years that film Blackfish (2013) comes out. In particular Frankie and I were drawn to the story and how disturbing it all was/is. It came together rather quickly after that. The guitar solos were a blast to construct. This ended up being the first song of the batch that really started to take shape and feel good in the recording process. Matt did about fifteen passes on the piano solo at the end which Derek and I then comped together to sound like a real player was tickling them ivories — Matt is actually crazy good on piano so in no way do I wanna downplay his talent.
