Matt let me borrow his mini guitar (/ukulele thing) for a short tour earlier this year. I came up with three different sections the day we left which I then finessed for the rest of that tour. Right from the get-go I had a good feeling about it. By comparison it's more linear than most things I tend to whip up so I pursued it more for that reason alone. A few months later I wrote the lyrics and most of their melodies in one sitting. I wanted to write it about my girlfriend, so I gathered two lines I had jotted down which helped me begin.

Frankie really made this song shine. So many lovely idea’s, such as throwing in some saved audio texts I had in the solo section. Another was simplifying the guitar chords in the chorus which I find really does make it feel more grounded. When he convinced me to end to song the way it does - as it was the biggest question for me during the writing process.

Pretty happy with how it all turned out. Being surrounded by close friends is a lovely thing.
